AHA voices support for bill addressing ED crowding
The AHA Oct. 20 expressed support for the Addressing Boarding and Crowding in the Emergency Department (ABC-ED) Act (S. 1974), bipartisan legislation designed to improve data collection on hospital capacity and ED boarding. The bill is sponsored by Sens. Chris Coons, D-Del., and David McCormick, R-Pa. In its letter to the bill’s sponsors, the AHA emphasized that the causes of ED boarding and crowding are complex and have become persistent and growing challenges for hospitals and health systems nationwide.
