The American Hospital Association’s Section for Metropolitan Hospitals, in partnership with our Hospitals Against Violence (HAV) initiative, invite you to our upcoming webinar.  Join us to hear about Harborview’s innovative approach to gun violence patterned on alcohol and substance abuse interventions. The Harborview Injury Prevention and Research Center (HIPRC) is a worldwide leader in reducing the impact of injury and violence on lives through research, education, training and public awareness.

Founded in 1985, and in strong partnership with the region’s level 1 adult and pediatric trauma center, Harborview Medical Center, HIPRC faculty and staff are devoted to conducting research, education and prevention programs aimed at diminishing the personal impact of trauma and broadening the effectiveness of injury prevention and treatment programs.  Research priorities include: violence prevention; global injury; injury care; safe & active transport and traumatic brain injury.  HIPRC direct its research and programs towards those groups at greatest risk of injury: children, the elderly, the poor, people of color, and residents of underserved communities to achieve health equity after injury across the lifespan.

Objectives:

  • Understand HIPRC’s Gun Violence Initiative.
  • To learn the genesis of HIPRC and the underlying needs that led to its inception.
  • Hear about HIPRC’s research priorities including violence prevention; global injury; injury care; safe & active transport and traumatic brain injury.
