Berna Griffin is ACHI's communications and member services specialist. She coordinates and shares responsibility for the association's activities related to member and customer services, membership and event database management and communications. She manages webinar registration and production, many annual conference planning tasks and is assisting in developing future volunteer engagement activities.

Prior to joining ACHI, Berna worked in both the non-profit and corporate sectors. Among her roles were assistance cultivating volunteers, providing logistical support for board of directors and executive leadership meetings as a project coordinator for the YMCA of the USA, and editing complex business evaluations and tracking marketing campaigns as an executive assistant for Citigroup. Berna has a Bachelor of Science in technical management and a master’s in project management.


Sarah Guerin, MA, is a research specialist providing communications, graphic design and social media support to ACHI. She also works with the AHA’s performance improvement initiative, Hospitals in Pursuit of Excellence. Sarah joined the American Hospital Association in 2005, having interned with the Health Research & Educational Trust and eventually accepting a project coordinator position assisting in HRET communications and managing its annual TRUST Award. Sarah is a 2013 graduate of DePaul University, Chicago, with a Master of Arts in new media studies and has a Bachelor of Arts in communications from Benedictine University, Lisle, Ill.

Julia Resnick, MPH, is a senior program manager with ACHI and the Health Research & Educational Trust. Julia is responsible for day-to-day operations of ACHI as well as developing the educational curriculum, analyzing survey data and planning the ACHI National Conference. In addition to her ACHI responsibilities, she works on a variety of population health-related projects through the American Hospital Association’s Health Research & Educational Trust including leading the Population Health Task Force and writing guides for Hospitals in Pursuit of Excellence.  She is passionate about fostering a health care system that aims to keep people healthy.

Prior to joining ACHI, Julia worked as a research coordinator on NIH funded grants at NorthShore University HealthSystem. As a volunteer fellow in Israel, she worked in a community clinic and coordinated perinatal care for pregnant African refugee women. Julia received her Master of Public Health at Hebrew University’s Braun School of Public Health and Community Medicine and a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Bates College.

Syeda Aisha, MPH, is a program specialist with ACHI and Hospitals in Pursuit of Excellence. Aisha started off as an intern at the American Hospital Association, assisting in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation project on fostering effective partnerships between hospitals and community organizations. As the newest member to the ACHI team, Aisha will be contributing to various projects, including the planning of the ACHI National Conference. She completed her undergraduate from the University of Illinois, Chicago in Biological Sciences and graduated with a Master of Public Health from Benedictine University.
